A space for prompts, perspective, and presence in a world that’s always on.
I turned 66 last year. Like Route 66, I suppose I’ve become something of an American classic — though with fewer pit stops and a lot less chrome.
My mornings got quieter. Coffee lasted longer. And somewhere between my inbox and the second cup, I started asking different questions — not about what’s next, but about what’s worth keeping.
We don’t just live in places anymore. We live in
spaces.
Our homes are offices. Our coffee shops are mobile pickup points. The lines between work, rest, and community have blurred — even disappeared.
Sociologists once talked about “third places” — those physical gathering spots beyond home and work where connection happened: diners, barbershops, bookstores.
But in 2025, we need something more than a place.
We need a third space — intentional, human, and unscheduled.
What is North of Now?
This isn’t a productivity blog.
It’s not a tech hype feed or a nostalgia trip either.
North of Now is where I explore how we live, work, and stay human in a world shaped by AI, automation, and relentless pace. It’s where we reclaim clarity in the face of noise — and where prompts become more than commands. They become conversation starters, mindset tools, even mirrors.
I write about:
Prompting – not just how to use it, but how it uses us
Personal infrastructure – the systems and spaces we build to stay grounded
Connection in a hybrid world – from slow moments to digital boundaries
Legacy in beta – what we build, what we pass on, and how we shift with age
If you’ve ever found yourself rethinking your calendar, your pace, your purpose — or your relationship to the tools you use daily — you’re in the right space.
This is a place for thoughtful systems, intentional living, and a few well-placed “what ifs.”
Let’s build from here.
Welcome.
